Get to know Nicola

Nicola started agility at the age of 6 encouraged by her parents to get involved and from there she discovered a love of agility and now it is not only her hobby but her job. With over 18 years of agility handling experience as well as training others for over 10 years you can be sure you will be gaining from a wealth of experience and innovations. She has become well known for training what some considered to be the more difficult breeds to do agility with. She always relishes a challenge and believes that every case is individual and that not every dog will respond to the same training methods. Although every challenge is faced using positive reinforcement methods of training.

Nicola has qualified and competed at every major final she has been eligible to compete at and has won classes at Crufts. Alongside her team mates she has also won the nations cup whilst representing England. She is regular competitor at Crufts and has qualified multiple dogs to run with her there. She has also featured on the Great Britain squad for a number of years and competed for GB and England. Nicola is now an Agility First Qualified instructor, a program which is endorsed by the Kennel Club to ensure a high level of Agility Training is delivered by all their qualified trainers. All of these things give peace of mind that you and your dog will get safe, consistent and high quality training for the level you require.

Nicola and Zoom were also one of three members in the winning Nations Cup team at the Kennel Club International Festival, the biggest dog agility show in the word. Where they not only went on to win the overall nations cup for England but also both rounds in a very convincing win. Even as she gets older she is still continuing to beat much younger dogs and continually qualifying for the highest level events around the Country and having great fun doing it.

Ag Ch Za Zar Zoom AW(G) (Black Kelpie)

Zoom is an Australian Kelpie who was born in 2005, she is a rescue dog who received foundation training from Nicola before going on to compete with her Brother, Adam. Whilst competing with Adam Zoom went on to win the Olympia Stakes final as well as the Crufts Young Kennel Club Dog of the Year. Adam also took her to Grade 7 (Kennel Club grades run from 1-7) and won her first Championship Certificate.

Nicola’s Dad, Alan, then went on to win her second Championship Certificate and the Scottish Highland Final before Nicola began handling her. Zoom went on to Fantastic success with Nicola gaining the win on spot for the Great Britain team and running in the European Open Final, gaining two Championship tickets to make Zoom up to Agility Champion. She won the ABC agility round at Crufts and gained 3rd in the Crufts Championship final in the same year. There is not a single major final Zoom hasn’t competed at with Nicola that she is eligible for.

Canen Flame of the Future AW(G) (Brown and White B.C)

Flame is a Border Collie who is more of a fun agility dog for Nicola and Alan (her dad), she has been a great learning dog for many new handlers and juniors. Despite mostly being a fun more than serious agility dog Flame is still running at Grade 7 and competing in championship classes and finals. She has also qualified for the Crufts Large team event and other major finals and enjoys the attention and fun of running in teams with other dogs.

Zest is a new addition to Nicola’s household and is a very crazy, high energy collie puppy. She is Nicola’s greatest training test to date and is constantly challenging Nicola’s training techniques and helping her to improve as a trainer. For now Zest is mostly doing socialisation, tricks and basic pet obedience and dreams of becoming an agility dog when she is older. Here is some of her puppy training.
